The Morgana
By Iriseyes
The Morgana is a triple Goddess of the Magickal Isle of Avalon She is the "Queen of the Fae", Goddess of battle, fertility and sexuality and is know for being a dark Goddess. Morgana is the sister of King Arthur whom she despised for killing a man she loved; in the end she took her brother back to Avalon on her magickal boat to heal him of his wounds of battle. Maiden (Mache), Mother (Babd), Crone (Nemain) she is the Goddess of war but gently washes the blood from the warrior who died in battle. Other names associated with her are: Morgan, Morgana La Faye, Morgaine, Morgain la fee (French), Fata Morgana (Italian). As you see she is known in many lands by other names but The Morrigan is from the isles of Ireland her true lands. If warriors see her before battle it is an omen of their death. Morgana animal form is the raven which she emerged from her faery mound singing "I have a secret that you shall learn. The grasses wave. The flowers glow golden. The goddesses three low like a kine. The raven Morrigan herself is wild for blood" Also known to say, "I shall end so I can begin." She was sent to a convent to become a nun and secretly she was a student of Merlin and learned magick from him, known for her healing powers and uses of healing herbs as well as her visions many call her a sorcerer . Only Merlin could stand up to her magickal strength, many tried and failed. The nine islands she is known to be from rise from the sea every seven years and if you try to get to any one of the islands you will disappear, the story goes.
Morgana has come to me in many dreams and meditations she was the first to contact me by any means she saw fit. I had to learn how to communicate with her and to listen to her call and if I didn't she would come to me in a very dramatic way like swooping in front of my car as one of the biggest ravens that I ever saw, then I decided that I would listen the first time she spoke to me. One of my most memorable dreams of her started as her three forms came to me after opening up to the craft. The dream was a lesson within its self to get me more serious about learning Wicca/Witchcraft and become more involved with my learning. At first I was just reading and studying different traditions and many different deities. She grabbed me up and basically said that now was the time to get serous with my studies and that they were always here to aid me in my workings. I have learned threw my meditations and dreams that she really can get upset with me when I do not listen with full heart and open ears. She has also woken me from sleeping to walk with her in the moonlight seeing her shadow walking with me is always enlightening.
