My thoughts of "The Wiccan Rede"

    By Iriseyes

The Wiccan Rede in essence to me is a set of beliefs and guidelines that were created for us Wiccans to follow with all the love and trust that we can give.  We have to love and trust this completely in order for us to be able to say we are Wiccan.

To fully understand "And harm none do as you will", means you have to take the statement apart and look at it thru your eyes to harm is totally against my set of beliefs unless it means I have to defend myself or those who are in my family. When you are attacked "Harm None" does not apply.  You must be able to defend yourself against attacks by humans and animals.  .  Harming none applies to the air we breathe to the dirt under our feet and everything in-between because everything has deities spirit

When we eat we are harming animals to an extent but it is for our survival.  Many feel that you must not harm anything but how can eat if you believe that, I do not try to judge anyone's beliefs as I feel that is wrong to do, but say you're a vegetarian cause you feel that you cannot harm animals but what some do not realize is plants are also living beings as well, so this debate will go on for as long as humans roam the earth.

To harm for the sake of harming is unforgivable in my set of beliefs, to just pick the wings off of butterflies to take them is really uncalled for they can find plenty that are already dead to take the wings for a display.  To kick a dog or any other animal for that matter, in anger to show dominance over it or to kick it around makes me want to kick the owners in return for their hateful attitude. This type of animal abuse really burns me to the bone and to show for this type of behavior or animal shelters are becoming so full of animals that they are putting the animals down this makes me so sad to see this on television.  I really feel an eye for an eye sometimes and I think sometimes that is justification in the part of an angry person.  As I am writing this also we must look at an animal attack, one must be able to defend their self's from attacks without feeling the guilt of possibly killing or hurting the attacking animal.   If your neighbor's dog is biting you or one of your children human nature kicks in and tries to stop the attack in any means necessary as well as using any force possible to stop the activity.  If this animal dies as a result of this I feel you are not held accountable and are justified by defending you or one of your family members.

In life I feel we must give and take in order to function as civil people.  We cannot accept and receive the deities and the elements of the earth if we are not willing to give back or even give forward as we keep on taking.  Taking in our world has gotten us pollution of our waters and our air, destroyed lands and many different forms of diseases and we are raping Mother Earth. Not only are we raping Mother Earth but we have begun to rape Father Sky and are starting to rape the universe we live in.

In life we pay for what we do and if I could just cause a ripple effect in changing the way we treat each other I have done my part in changing the way we as humans view our Mother and each other.  If one person can change but one life, just think if ten people could change ten life's and so on before long the humans are working together to make our universe and home a wonderful and pollution free environment.

    The Morgana

    The Morgana

    By Iriseyes

The Morgana is a triple Goddess of the Magickal Isle of Avalon   She is the "Queen of the Fae", Goddess of battle, fertility and sexuality and is know for being a dark Goddess.  Morgana is the sister of King Arthur whom she despised for killing a man she loved; in the end she took her brother back to Avalon on her magickal boat to heal him of his wounds of battle.  Maiden (Mache), Mother (Babd), Crone (Nemain) she is the Goddess of war but gently washes the blood from the warrior who died in battle.  Other names associated with her are:  Morgan, Morgana La Faye, Morgaine, Morgain la fee (French), Fata Morgana (Italian). As you see she is known in many lands by other names but The Morrigan is from the isles of Ireland her true lands.  If warriors see her before battle it is an omen of their death.  Morgana animal form is the raven which she emerged from her faery mound singing "I have a secret that you shall learn. The grasses wave. The flowers glow golden. The goddesses three low like a kine. The raven Morrigan herself is wild for blood" Also known to say, "I shall end so I can begin." She was sent to a convent to become a nun and secretly she was a student of Merlin and learned magick from him, known for her healing powers and uses of healing herbs as well as her visions many call her a sorcerer . Only Merlin could stand up to her magickal strength, many tried and failed. The nine islands she is known to be from rise from the sea every seven years and if you try to get to any one of the islands you will disappear, the story goes.

Morgana has come to me in many dreams and meditations she was the first to contact me by any means she saw fit.  I had to learn how to communicate with her and to listen to her call and if I didn't she would come to me in a very dramatic way like swooping in front of my car as one of the biggest ravens that I ever saw, then I decided that I would listen the first time she spoke to me.  One of my most memorable dreams of her started as her three forms came to me after opening up to the craft.  The dream was a lesson within its self to get me more serious about learning Wicca/Witchcraft and become more involved with my learning.  At first I was just reading and studying different traditions and many different deities.  She grabbed me up and basically said that now was the time to get serous with my studies and that they were always here to aid me in my workings.  I have learned threw my meditations and dreams that she really can get upset with me when I do not listen with full heart and open ears.  She has also woken me from sleeping to walk with her in the moonlight seeing her shadow walking with me is always enlightening.

    Wiccan Rede Long Version

Sunday, April 27, 2008, 09:23 PM CST [General]

I feel the need to post this..  Something tells me someone needs to read this message..

    Blessed Be!!

Taken from The Craft by Dorothy Morrison

Bide the Wiccan Law you must, in perfect love and perfect trust.

Live and let live; fairly take and fairly give.

Cast the Circle thrice about, to keep all evil spirits out.

To bind the spell every time, let the spell be spake in rhyme.

Soft of eye and light of touch, speak little and listen much.

Deosil go by the waxing moon, sing and dance the Witches Rune.

Widdershins go when the moon doth wane, and werewolf howls by the dread wolfsbane.

When the lady's Moon is new, kiss thy hand to her times two.

When the Moon rides at her peak, then your heart's desire speak.

Heed the northwind's mighty gale, lock the door and drop the sail.

When the wind comes from the sound, love will kiss the on the mouth.

When the westwind blows o'er thee, departed spirits restless be.

Nine woods in the cauldron go, burn them fast and burn them slow.

Elder be the lady's tree- burn it not, or cursed be!

When the wheel begins to turn, let the Beltane fires burn.

When the wheel hath turned to Yule, light the log and let Pan Rule.

Heed ye flower, bush and tree, and by the lady, Blessed Be!

Where the rippling waters flow, cast a stone and truth you'll know.

Whenever yer have a need, harken not to other's greed.

With the fool, no seasons spend, nor be counted as his friend.

Merry meet and Merry Part, bright the cheeks and warm the heart.

Mind the Threetold Law ye should, three times bad an' three times good.

When misfortune is enow, wear the blue star on your brow.

True in love ever be, unless thy love is false to thee.

Eight words in the Wiccan Rede fulfill. "An it harm none, do what ye will."

Calling out to Southeastern/ST Louis Pagans

Saturday, November 24, 2007, 10:11 AM CST [General]

I would like to meet more Pagan/Wiccan/Paths in my area. I live in Park Hills MO and want to meet people with like minds. I would like to know if there are any workshops, study groups, etc in my area.  If there is not I would be willing to setup and start a group so that we can grow from our experiences from one another.  I am not looking for a coven so to speak, unless they are willing to communicate with me.  I am in a stage right now were I need more info and to journey farther in my path.

I would also like to hear from others and wouldn't mind to set up a study group online if need be. I love to hear from different walks of life and learn from what I see and read.

What I need is more interaction with like minds.
